CRISP - Crisis Simulation for Peace e.V.

Johanna Kleffmann grew up in the idyllic Westphalian town of Lippstadt. Her experience as a 16-year-old exchange student in Melbourne and a year she spent working as a volunteer for an NGO in Mexico sparked her interest in development projects as well as social and political conflicts.

While earning her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Geography at Heidelberg University she focussed on international cooperation and conflict research. Besides, she was involved as a conflict researcher, head of working group, and cartography assistant, thereby contributing to an annual publication on political conflicts worldwide. With her Bachelor thesis on the transformation of paramilitary groups in Colombia Johanna’s regional interest lies mainly in Latin America, where she has gained work experience in Mexico and Costa Rica. However, Eastern Europe has been increasingly present in her recent activities.

Johanna started as an intern at CRISP in early 2016 and on behalf of the organisation participated in a contact-making-event in Minsk. Since then she has been coordinating all our activities regarding Belarus. She is currently studying her Master’s degree in Political Science at the Free University of Berlin.
