Meet the Winner of the German African Award 2023

CRISP is pleased to announce that the "1st National Women’s Convention for Peace in Cameroon" has been honored with the German African Award 2023.

CRISP started its journey on July 25, 2022, with the launch of a Preparatory Training program for the first National Women's Conference for Peace in Cameroon. In collaboration with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, this effort aimed to empower women, provide them with essential skills, and amplify their voices in peacebuilding and conflict resolution.

The "1st National Women’s Convention for Peace in Cameroon" is recognized for its contribution to conflict resolution and efforts in promoting dialogue for peace and reconciliation in Cameroon. The German African Award acknowledges this collective achievement, with over 1,500 women from all 10 regions and 58 districts of the country involved.

The ceremony, which occurred on the 30th of November in Berlin, the platform was represented through the following delegates:  Mboumien, founder and executive director of Common Action for Gender Development (COMAGEND); Esther Omam, director of the non-governmental organization «Reach Out Cameroon»; and Marthe Wandou, an advocate for women's and children's rights.

The success of the convention is evident in tangible outcomes observed in the region. Participants have become catalysts for change, using their skills to address conflict-related issues in their communities. The conference has sparked a broader conversation on the crucial role of women in peacebuilding, influencing policy discussions and shaping the narrative around sustainable peace in Cameroon.
